It is still our Month of FAVOR for Contending VICTORIOUSLY and our KEY Scripture is Deut2:24. It is important to notice that when God promised Israel the Land that flows with Milk and Honey, the Jews didn’t remain in Egypt and keep praying in the hope that they would all wake up one day in Canaan. They had to obey and depart Egypt. Somehow, along the way, they encountered certain challenges. It would seem to me that the Jews must have been surprised that there could be any opposition to a clearly God-ordered expedition. Apparently, at some point, they began to doubt the wisdom of departing Egypt in the first place. I mean if the Almighty God actually wanted them to inherit Canaan, why didn’t He just miraculously lift them from Egypt above all obstacles and place them in Canaan? In fact, when Israel encountered another river after crossing the Red Sea, they were ready to throw in the towel and just settle there.
Well, Man is God’s most cherished ‘investment’ in all of creation. Therefore, sometimes God will have man exercise that God-like conquering ability. Hence God prompted the apparently indolent or lethargic nation of Israel to action:
“Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.” Deut 2:24 KJV
What God told the biological seed of Abraham then is still valid for you, the spiritual seed of Abraham.
The Father says:
- “Rise ye up”. Stop waiting and arise to some action. Do something and you will discover that God has been waiting to magnify, empower and bless your effort.
- “pass over the river Arnon”. Yes, there are Rivers (obstacles) but you are adequately equipped divinely programmed to cross (surmount) them.
- “I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land” The adversary has been divinely defeated on your behalf and your victory has been accomplished. Your breakthrough has been released.
- “begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle” Your possessions are up for the taking but you must gather them in by yourself. Your victory is assured but you must show up for the battle. Remember, even when God rained Manna from Heaven, it didn’t automatically fill the vessels of the people in their tents. They had to go out and gather it.
Beloved of the Most High God, this week, whatever you are led to do, GO FOR IT!
